Dr. Fredric D. Abramson
Dr. Abramson is taking the lead in integrating genomics into more traditional disciplines such as nutrition, and translating that knowledge into practical and actionable intelligence for ordinary people. He comes to this emerging field of consumer genomics with four decades experience in a broad variety of business, scientific and educational activities.
Dr. Abramson holds his Ph.D. in human genetics from the University of Michigan (1972) and a Master of Science in Management from MIT (1977) where he was an Alfred P. Sloan Fellow. He also received degrees from the University of Pennsylvania (A.B. mathematical biology, 1963), University of Rochester (M.S. biology, 1965), and the American University Washington College of Law (J.D., 1987).
Recognized as a gifted teacher and lecturer, Dr. Abramson was named the 2005 Faculty of the Year for his graduate-level teaching at the Johns Hopkins University biotechnology program. Previously he held full-time academic appointments at the University of Kentucky Medical School and the American University, Washington, D.C. He has also taught at Georgetown University and Loyola College in Baltimore, Maryland.
Currently Dr. Abramson is President and CEO of AlphaGenics, Inc., a Rockville, Maryland company which uses a person’s genetic information to create personalized products for lifestyle and health.
Dr. Neil Ross, PHD
Dr. Neil D. Ross has had an extensive career in the pharmaceutical and nutraceutical industry beginning in 1975 with Lederle Labs where he developed and implemented the Centrum, Caltrate, Stresstab and Maternaformulations and all line extensions. Dr. Ross graduated from the University of Missouri with degrees in Biological Research and Pharmacy and is an active member and officer of numerous professional organizations. Dr. Ross' most recent major accomplishment was the development of a complete line of nutraceutical products for general well-being, menopause, pms, cardio and cholesterol, health and energy. These products are based on a novel technology developed by Dr. Ross.
Dr. Richard Staack
Dr. Richard Staack has 15 years of experience in the dietary supplement and functional food area. Dr. Staack received his Masters of Science and Doctorate in Nutritional and Biochemical Toxicology from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. He received his Master of Business Administration with Distinction from DeVry University. Dr. Staack also has an undergraduate Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. Dr. Staack has received several awards and honors in the field of nutrition including fellowships and scholar awards. Dr. Staack is associated with numerous professional affiliations and has published several articles on nutrition and toxicology in peer-reviewed journals.
